Verdite

Verdite is a metamorphic rock composed primarily of fuchsite — a chromium-rich variety of muscovite mica — along with talc, chlorite and occasional inclusions of corundum, quartz or ruby. This fuchsite content gives verdite its distinctive deep green: a saturated, mineral-dense colour ranging from soft, mossy jade and olive to shadowy near-black. Rather than a single flat hue, the surface of a well-chosen piece is alive with variation — layers of colour shifting within the matrix, no two pieces patterned quite alike.
